This is one of those cheap film music CD compilations that are so cheap that they have to be synthesised. Not so, this is in fact an excellent compilation, well performed with a reasonable selection of themes from a range of composers. I suppose the choices are a little biased toward John Williams and Westerns, but these are all performed splendidly. There are a couple of fluffed notes, but nothing so bad that it can't be ignored. The recording quality tends to make the brass not have enough bite and a bit too brassy, if that is possible! The James Bond medley was the main reason that I got this as I have no other James Bond music. It is a well chosen selection from the series and well performed. It also contains the best version of 633 Squadron I have heard, it keeps the speed up all the way through and the horn - melody part comes through much better than in other recordings. The Magnificent Seven is also a very well performed version, it too keeps up a decent pace throughout. Only the Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark tracks tend to drag a bit. Especially in Marion's theme from Raiders. Overall, worth it if you just want another recording of some famous themes. Most collectors wouldn't need it, but I'm glad I got it.
