Michel Legrand's Never Say Never Again doesn't have quite the memorable swagger of the Barry scores, but for a 1983 film is pleasingly 60's in sound. Bacharach's Casino Royale is, however, rather more lightweight, but typically tuneful and The Look of Love is a classic Bacharach tune. I must admit that I don't really see the wisdom in releasing such a collection before the remake (or re-imagining, if you only speak Tim Burton) of Casino Royale, surely it would have been better to wait until some of David Arnold's music could feature on the disc alongside Bacharach's. Members of the general public are already spoiled for choice on Bond collections and while this is, in fairness, the most comprehensive collection to date, it's presumably only a matter of a year or two before the Very, Absolutely, Honestly, it really is, the Most Utterly Ultimate, Definite and Definitive James Bond Film Music Collection in the History of all Humanity Ever is released. Probably be Silva Screen. However, if you have none of Silva's previous collections, this is the place to start. For more detailed reviews on the remaining tracks:
