This was how Menken and Ashman originally envisioned the film with the strong friendship and parental element instead of the final romance and comedy. The four reprises of Arabian Nights are meant as a narration through the story. I think they might have broken up the final style of the story and not fitted in terribly well, but in this context they follow the narrative well. Babkak, Omar, Aladdin Kassim was original meant for Aladdin and his chums to sung, but as these characters never featured, the song was dropped. It's a pretty good, fun song that could have played well on the quirks of the performers doing each voice. It was replaced by One Jump which was an excellent and perhaps better alternative. How Quick They Forget is supposed to have been sung by the other three after Aladdin goes his own way. This would have clashed horrendously with the rest of the music I think and is perhaps a little old fashioned for a hip 90's Disney movie. Proud of Your Boy is a lovely ballad that Aladdin was to sing to his Mother and one that Menken is rightly proud of. Shame it couldn't have been adapted in some way for the final cut of the movie. High Adventure is the Menken and Ashman sung version of an action cue and could also have perhaps been adapted for the climactic showdown at the end of the movie. It works quite well as a concept and would have been better in its final form as it tends to get rather monotonous in this form, especially during the extended orchestral parts due to the limitations of the synths. This would have made an impressive alternative to the final story, but even Alan Menken isn't going to try and argue with Disney on what they want!
